Buddy the Elf

Brad and Wyatt came home from school one day talking about people they know with these cool and magical elves.  They proceeded to tell me about how sneaky these elves are and that they're so magical that they can't be touched by kids.

Of course I had heard about Elf on the Shelf, so on Black Friday I picked one up.  About mid morning the boys found the elf sitting on our steps with a book.  Travis was the first to find him and he picked him up for a second.  He set the elf down before the other boys came by, but Brad announced that, "no kids can touch him or he loses his magic!"  Travis looked like he might cry.  I suggested that we sit and read the book because we might have to officially adopt him before he could have magic for our family.  You could see the weight lift off poor Travis' shoulders.

The boys decided to name our little elf Buddy. (Can you tell they love the movie ELF?)  At first Buddy tried to get a feel for our family and the boys' behavior.  He hung out in the chandelier, in a big jar on the kitchen counter, in the wreath and by the Wii.  But it didn't take long for him to start pulling some stunts and making himself right at home.

Buddy stole a pair of underwear from each boy and hung them on the tree.

He strung lights in Wyatt and Travis' room.  When they woke up in the morning it was quite bright.

He ate some cookies while watching ELF.

Since these pics, he's also used toothpaste to write on the mirror in the boys' bathroom.  The message said, "Have you been naughty or nice?  1 week until Santa comes!"

He also was found suspended in midair wearing a cape.  Pictures of that are to come!

Silly little elf!
