Emergency Helicopter

Travis' preschool class took a field trip to the airport to learn about the emergency helicopter.  This chopper is 1 of 7 in the area.  The crew (pilot, paramedic & nurse) works 24-hour shifts and have living quarters at the airport.  We learned that it costs $10,000 to take the chopper out.  And should you need them to come get you at an accident, your charge is $15,000.  Good thing insurance covers it all!  And if you don't have insurance, the company eats the cost so that you don't have extra stress worrying about how to pay the bill.

Here is the nurse.  She also works with the Air Guard doing the same thing.

She shows the night vision goggles that attach to the helmet.

The paramedic shows where the gurney locks in.  The inside of the helicopter is quite small - only room for the patient and crew.

 The class of boys!
