The Christmas Season

In the past, this time of year is so busy that I can't wait for Christmas Eve just to have a break from reality.  But this year I've unintentionally freed myself up a bit more to enjoy the season.  I've taken a bit more time to notice the "magic" of this time of year, both commercially and spiritually.  So I thought I'd share a few of my thoughts in the next couple of posts.

Let me just begin by saying that I LOVE the traditions of Christmas.  I think it's amazing that the whole world is in on the same big secret.  Yes, different countries have different figures, but the idea is the same.  It's Santa!  (That's best when said like Buddy the Elf when in the mall.)

Can you believe that there are lots of small children (ages 4-6) that don't believe in Santa. *gasp*  I think it's so sad that they don't have that magic in their Christmas.  Even Brad (who's now 10) hasn't mentioned anything about not believing.  I guess I was close to Brad's age when I found out the truth, but still hoped every year that there would be a Christmas miracle and Santa would deliver a special gift.

There is no shame in believing in Santa.  I've heard some say they feel it's a lie.  Ugh!  It's a story that has been passed on for generations.  He's a generous man that gives to people.  He's a happy man that loves kids and loves to make others happy.  What is so wrong with that?

Anyway, I guess I'm saying that I still believe in Santa!  It's one of the magical things about this season that I love.
