At the end of last winter, we decided we'd make some changes to the front room. Jake wanted to make a faux wall after seeing some on Pinterest. Luckily we were able to get our hands on some old wood, but we had to treat it before we could bring it in the house. Thankfully there is a place that makes wood furniture and repurposes old barn wood close by. The owner told us of a great treatment we could order and apply to the wood. It only took us 6 months to get things going.
On the left are the wood "planks" we put on the wall that the wood could be nailed into so that we wouldn't have tons of holes in the wall. On the right is Jake making the finishing touches around the windows. Thanks to Frank's help, they were able to do it all in an afternoon.
Here is the wall with curtains and some Christmas decor. It looks quite nice, if I do say so myself.
I wanted to point out the windown treatments. We got hooks and screwed them into a piece of wood and then put the wood up to hang the curtains on. LOVE IT! And yes, it's another Pinterest idea.
Now the front room is earned the name of the Barn Room.
