Boo Boo

Anyone that knows Brad and Wyatt know that they don't take pain very well. In fact, if any kind of blood is involved, that's all she wrote! Screaming, flailing, acting as though the world will end! It's a sight.

So the other day when I was talking to Mom on the phone, I heard Wyatt screaming his head off. I said something like, "Oh I wonder what little cut Wyatt has to make him scream and yell like that." So I opened the door to Wyatt with blood dripping down his face. I think I hollered in the phone, "He's bleeding profusely! Gotta go!"

I grabbed a clean towel and got it wet for him to hold on his head. I tried to get what happened from him, but it was hard to understand through his hysteria. I got that Brad hit him with the golf club. Yes, let me say that again - the GOLF CLUB!!! Nice! So I went to the front door to yell at Brad.

He had no idea he had done any damage. He knew he had hit Wyatt, but never thought anything of it. As he rode Wy's bike to the sidewalk and got off I asked if he knew that we had to go to the ER now. All of the sudden he was really concerned. I think he felt tremendous guilt once he realized how much damage had been done.

I cleaned Wyatt up and changed Travis' diaper and we headed to Urgent Care. I'd much rather pay only a $25 copay and sit for just a couple of hours there than pay a $50 copay and wait all night at the ER.

As you can see, he didn't get stitches. I'm sure if it had been on the back of his head, he would have. I believe they try to use any other means for less scarring when it's on the face. So he was glued together and sent home.

There are probably 3 or 4 layers of dermabond in his cut. The dr said it should peel off in about 4 days and the cut will be healed. Pretty cool, huh?

Sorry for the crappy, blurry pictures. I really hate our camera!

So just when I think my life isn't eventful enough, my boys throw something in the mix to make it crazy!!!

Apology???

In this day and age when people can't take responsibility for anything and blame others for everything, Congress has nothing better to do than apologize for slavery. Seriously?

I can not believe that tax money and peoples' time and effort have been spent for an apology of something that occurred a lifetime ago! Did any of us have anything to do with slavery? Maybe our ancestors, but come on!

There is a time and season for everything... apparently people in our country in Civil War times felt it necessary to enslave people. But we got past it and have moved on, haven't we? Are we going to continue to dwell on the past, or learn from history and run with it????

So that's my 2 cents on things. I'm not going to claim I know anything about anything, but I sure was rubbed the wrong way when I heard about this apology.

The BEST Concert

George Strait
Saturday, June 13th
Nissan Pavillion

It's no wonder he is the King of Country Music!!!

It was simply the best concert I've been at since the
George Strait Country Music Festival
that I attended at BYU the summer of 1998.

A real cowboy! (*sigh*)

Blake Shelton was there to open for George. He was great! Very personable, funny and a great performer. I didn't realize how many of his songs were hits until he played them.

I look forward to seeing him in concert one day when he's the feature!

yard sale finds

This past week was CRAZY. Our friends, the Spadettis, found out they were moving on June 13th rather than the first weekend in August. Dorian needed to get rid of some things in a yard sale, so we had one. Our neighbors were planning to have one anyway, so we just made it one HUGE sale. In the end there were 3 of us in the culdesac that had goods/junk out to get rid of.

Despite our wacky schedule on Saturday - yard sale, craft show, soccer game, birthday party, etc. - I did get something great!

Travis' little buddy, Brooke (that lives next door) has grown out of lots of clothes. It was time to get rid of them, so they put them in the sale. Unfortunately they didn't get rid of everything, so there were still 5 boxes to pack back up. The plan was to take the clothes to the Abused Women's Shelter. Nicole works all week, so I volunteered to drop them off one day.

I picked through the clothes on Sunday and paid them for what I got. I was thinking of little Pinky Shorter that will join everyone next month. I am still looking for a box big enough to send it all to Wisconsin.

Here is a glimpse of some of the cute girl clothes (that I only get to enjoy when I buy for my nieces!) :)

This is a Ralph Lauren outfit. I LOVE the color and hope orange suits little Pinky. The bloomers are too cute.

This skirt is one that she'll be able to wear this fall. I LOVE the browns and pinks.

This is a little polo that has cherries embroidered on it. I LOVE the little cherries. I also got a shirt that has some shimmery strawberries on it - I just couldn't find it for the picture.

This is a little Old Navy outfit that will work for next spring. The little shorts are like the bubble shorts that little ones wore back in the day. Way cute - and yes, that's velvet.

And these are the cutest things!!!
They're rain boots. Jake couldn't believe that they were really vinyl. I love them and hope Chad and Ginnie will be able to work them into Pinky's wardrobe.

Chad and Ginnie, be looking for a big box to be delivered in the next couple of weeks. I hope to go to Lowes today to buy a box big enough.

Yummy Icecream Cake

Here is my latest creation. I'll be making another today for the YM that are graduating - Jake's having a celebratory dinner for them tonight.

Using a springform pan, I baked a cake and then stuck it in the freezer. I pulled out my trusty Cuisinart icecream maker and made a fresh batch of vanilla. I immediately dumped all of the icecream on the cake and stuck it back in the freezer. Drizzled on top is hot fudge - and then I put it back in the freezer. Once I removed the side of the pan, I covered the cake with cool whip.

I think the cake I'll make today will have 2 layers of icecream. I'm going to use Funfetti cake and then do a layer of vanilla icecream and then a layer of cookies and cream icecream using the Beach Oreos with blue centers. It should look pretty fantabulous when I'm done!

Big Sister

Madison is so cute seeing her little brother for the first time.

Isn't he so cute?

Cute Little Chunk

Little Ian is still in the hospital but hopes to go home TODAY.
His surgery went well, but now he's having a hard time keeping formula down --- but they've learned they really need to be sure he burps. If not patient, you get a waterfall of formula!!!

The tube is still in for this picture. Jess now calls him squeakers because he kind of squeaks when he breathes. They think it's due to irritation from on of the tubes from surgery. Too cute!

Happy Momma! Jess is very grateful to be done with the pregnancy. Despite the craziness that will ensue, she can't wait to have him home so their family will be together.

Proud Papa! Clay is such a good dad --- I have to brag on my little brother!!!! He is really a hands-on person and helps so much with Maddie and helps to ensure that Jess is comfortable. I'm sure it will be a great bonus to him to have a little fellow in the home.
