Goal: Hawaii

The Scentsy incentive trip this next "season" is Hawaii. I don't see why I can't earn enough points to make it there. And possibly even to take Jake with me --- even though he's already been to the islands!

I have to earn 24,000 points just to get me there. How do I do it? I sell, sell, sell and recruit, recruit, recruit. So if you know anyone that LOVES candles or anyone that needs extra cash, let me know.

When Scentsy takes you on a trip, they cover the cost of EVERYTHING. It would be so awesome to hang out with and play with all kinds of consultants for a week.

So wish me luck. If you can help me out, just let me know.

Recap

OK, so here's a recap of my few days at Convention.

I flew into Salt Lake on Wednesday, August 15th. We hung around and headed to the Scentsy Success tailgate party. Wednesday was fluff day compare to the next couple...

Everything started bright and early on Thursday. Here we are at the Convention Center. Everyone is excited to see Heidi and Orville, to learn of any changes, to see the new products for the fall and winter, etc, etc. At one point I felt like we were on Oprah when she does her Favorite Things show. When they started showing us the new products for Fall/Winter, UPS employees started wheeling out carts with FREE stuff for us. We got warmers, room sprays, plug-ins, and the new travel tins!!!

Here we are showing off our FREE travel tins. And I have to say that those suckers really work!!!

This is Adie Mitchell. I LOVE Adie because she's hilarious and has no problem laughing at herself. She is one of the first consultants for Scentsy and is now a SuperStar Director. I was so excited to meet her in person and to chat with her a bit.

2009 marks 5 years for Scentsy. On Thursday night we had a big birthday party to commemorate it all. They had a Cirque d'Baserque. It was AWESOME. There was food everywhere. And they had Dr Pepper, candy, games, etc. This celebration was for the whole family. Any consultant that had family nearby was able to bring them to this awesome gala.

Thursday was an early morning and a late night. We got up even early on Friday for Scentsy Success team games. See Friday is Team Day where everyone dresses up and celebrates their teams. We competed at 8:30 in the cereal eating contest.

We had a box of Fruit Loops (w/ Marshmallows) and 1 pint of milk. It had to be completely consumed in order to win. We barely missed being the champs at this one.

I have to say we tore our mouths up a bit for this one. It was loads of fun and we think we could win it next year - should we be invited back for this competition.

You can't really see it, but Angela and I both have marshmallows stuck to our faces. Ha! We didn't even know they were there.

We're all dressed up for the Awards Night Friday night. It was awesome --- the entertainment was an impersonator named Jason Hewitt. He was hilarious. I met him afterward and we cracked up a bit. If you're interested, you can type him in on YouTube to see some of his work.

Overall it was a great trip. I met new people, learned tons of stuff and had a good time. I was worn slam out by the time I got back home because of lack of sleep and information overload. It was crazy, but I look forward to it again next year.

Tailgate Party

The first evening that I was there, we headed to the Scentsy Success tailgate party. Scentsy Success is the company that sells us our business materials, tshirts, etc. We played games, won prizes, had hotdogs, shopped all of the old inventory, etc. There was a dunk machine at the back of the building where we could win prizes for dunking whoever in the tank. They were giving out shirts that all but one of us on our team had. In order for us to each have our own, our director, Angela jumped in the tank. Yup, she's crazy!

KellyAnne, one of our team members, ready to throw a ball at the target!

Angela waits to be hit and dunked!!!

She had to ride back to the hotel all wet. We were in Layton and had to get back to Salt Lake --- about a 20 minute drive.

Scentsy Convention 2009

Scentsy Convention 2009 was held in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Salt Palace.

Rocks are cool!

Thanks to President Shake and Cub Scouts, the boys have started a rock collection!

Last week President Shake had some vacation time, so he stopped at our house to see if the boys would be available to go rock hunting the next day. So Monday morning, Brad, Wyatt and Jake jumped in the Jeep with Pres Shake and Donald (a very knowledgeable rock guy in our ward) and headed to Rock Enon park to search for some great rocks. A few hours later they came home with some goodies.

To be honest, I don't know what anything is, but I do think it's cool that there were some "fossils" found in some of the rocks. You can see the curly-Q shell imprint on the large gray rock. The boys were quite excited about their finds and couldn't wait to share them with Travis and me.

Funny boy!

We went to Jake's office the other day so I could drop some Scentsy off for the ladies downstairs. We ended up having to park at the top of the parking garage and because the elevator took so long we walked down the stairs.
As we were walking into the building, Travis commented about an alligator. I didn't quite understand where he got this idea about an alligator because I didn't see anything resembling one around. I tried to answer his concern and then we just went up to Jake's office.

After visiting we ended up going to lunch and to a store that Jake always talks about. While there Travis filled his diaper and needed a change. I had forgotten that I took the wipes out of the van on Sunday and put them in my church bag. And without wipes it makes cleaning a hiney pretty difficult! So we headed back to Jake's building to one of the bathrooms there.

On our way into the county building Travis said something else about an alligator. Again I was puzzled. We just headed into the bathroom and got him changed!!! As we were heading out Travis said something else about an alligator and pointed to the elevators!!! Finally I understood what he was talking about.

Travis has a bit of a fear of elevators. I don't think he's ever ridden in one standing by himself. Someone must always hold him. So he was quite concerned every time we entered the building because he knew in order to visit daddy he had to ride an "alligator"!

Too cute!

Bathroom Redo

I woke up last Monday morning and decided I'd prep the walls in our bathroom for paint and then prime them. I really wasn't planning to finish the project until later in the fall, but Jake asked if I was going to the store to get paint --- so I did.

This little project cost a lot more than I was planning. For anyone that saw the bathroom before, you know the walls were burgundy and the ceiling was gold. So not only did I have to do the walls, I had to do the ceiling too. In order to do that I had to go buy ceiling paint as well as the brown that went on the walls. And when we took the mirror down (because we wanted to replace it with the one from the 1/2 bath downstairs) we saw a nice hole in the drywall that needed fixing. Thankfully we already had a light fixture - also recycled from the 1/2 bath.

I then got new towel bars and curtain rod. The curtain was the inspiration for the walls. One of the stripes was the exact color I was looking for. Now I think the walls look like they have chocolate milk on them. It's a great color - especially to brighten up the space.

The next step is to talk Jake into letting me paint the vanity white. We didn't touch up the trim along the floor because Jake will likely put tile down later this fall.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the room. I want to order some fabric to make a new shower curtain sometime in the future. It will then tie the bathroom in with the decor of the bedroom.

Indoor Bike?

Travis decided since he couldn't ride his bike outside during the day that he'd bring it in the house. Too bad Brad and Wyatt ride it more than he does!!!

Here is a shot of him watching Handy Manny while sitting on his bike. Yes, he still has the wretched passy. I think we're going to tackle potty training before we get rid of those things. We're much closer to potty training - Yippee!!!

Lincoln Logs

This summer has been a bit crazy as far as weather goes. Since we've had quite a few wet days, and lately some really hot days, the boys have stayed inside a bit. But Brad and Wyatt pulled out an old favorite and played with it for nearly a week before it was all put away.

They built forts all along the wall where the windows are in the play room. If you look at the army truck, you can see a trailer that Brad rigged up with his K'Nex. They also took some little plastic police men from the dollar store to keep an eye out over their forts.

Once their forts were all set up, they got rubber bands and tried knocking off the police men one by one. This was great entertainment for them for many hours. They actually got along and had a really good time. I'm thinking they ought to pull this out again really soon!

Makin' Samples

We've been very busy this summer. Brad had Cub Scout Twilight Camp, Jake and I have been to camps and Youth Conference, we've been camping and swimming, etc. But some of being busy happens at home.

Part of having my own Scentsy business is showing off the Scent of the Month. To do that, I end up making tons of little samples to give out. So during one afternoon - in between cleaning and other projects - I made a bunch of these samples.

I love my business and am really looking forward to spending the latter part of this week at Convention in Salt Lake. I should be pretty busy this fall with parties and open houses --- in hopes of sharing the Scentsy name with people in my neck of the woods as well as Lynchburg! It's gonna be so fun!
