Google Images About Me

It's a getting to know you game using Google Images.  Check out Life Happens to see another.
Here's the deal... If you decide to do this too, you mention (and link) to the blog that you saw it first.  Then use google images to answer the questions.
Have fun!

Favorite Beverage
This is a clear winner!!!

My Hometown
I grew up in Lynchburg and consider that my original home.

Currently I live in Winchester, Apple Blossom central!

Favorite TV Show
It's a tie... NCIS and Criminal Minds.

Current Occupation
I'm a Mom, first and foremost.

And I sell Scentsy Wickless Candles.

First Car
1984 Pontiac Firebird with T-tops.  It was sweet looking, but didn't have much under the hood.  A great first car.  Thanks Mom and Dad!

Favorite Dish
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Japanese food - especially Hibachi Shrimp.

Celebrity You've Been Told You Most Resemble
OK, so this was back in high school.  I'm sure I looked a bit like Sharon Stone then, but not so much now.

Celebrity Crush
One of my favorite aspects of the show Criminal Minds is looking at Shemar Moore.  Jake just shakes his head every time I mention the eye candy that Shemar is.

Favorite Childhood Toy
I would have to say it was our gobs of HeMan figures.  I had Barbies and Cabbage Patch Kids, but I rarely played with them.

Any Random Photo
This is one of my favorite memories... visiting my BFF and going to Italy.  I LOVED Venice and can't wait to go back.  Maybe next time we can see Greece too.
But I loved the 3 gondoliers moving down the canal while we looked down from the Rialto.

Kind and Gentle

Our friends just had another little one join their family.  They named her Esther, and she is so cute!  This week she will be a month old, but she's still so teeny.  I LOVE holding her because she so's good.  No squiggles or fussing (unless she's hungry).  Such a good little girl.

I was holding Esther while her mom got the snacks for the kids. Travis came over and wanted a turn.  He was so good and gentle with her.  He held her for quite a while and smiled the whole time.  At one point she looked up at him and grinned really big too.  It was very cute!

I think he would make a big brother.  (No, I'm not announcing anything!!!)  I think he'll just have to stay the baby and enjoy little cousins though.

Preschool Halloween

Lately Travis and I haven't been participating in our Moms & Tots preschool.  But this morning I got a call from a good friend in the group neding a place to hold preschool.  She had everything planned, they just needed a place to be (they're renovating their kitchen and have holes in the floor at the moment).  Of course I told her we could hold it at our home.

Since this week is Halloween, she did all of the fun Halloweenish things... make ghosts with suckers, paste jack-o-lantern shapes on a page, make a dracula puppet, and play dress up.  She had a bucket of costumes - and the kids had a blast!!!

Travis is a bear.

Phillip is a dragon.

Emma, a fairy.

Hazel is a big unicorn!

Ryan put on the other dragon suit.

Travy is a bright, smiling flower.

Elijah, the cowboy.

Matthew is kind of a football pirate.

And lastly, Audra is a pixie.

Like I said, they had fun dressing up.  I thought it would be fun to record all of Travis' friends.

Game 2 of Fall Tournament

Wow!

Those are the only two phrases that really describe our game last night.  It was an interesting ride!

To begin, we got to the field only for the first game to have 2 remaining innings to play.  Our team was running wild and crazy.  Once we finally got settled into the dug out there was another delay --- someone barfed in the other dugout.  We had to wait for it to be cleaned and Lysoled before we could let those kids into their dugout.  The announcer then read each boys name as he ran onto the field and then we began the game.

The team we were playing was not particularly good.  They weren't bad either!  We had a really good chance of winning!!!  The only problem we found in the first inning was that the pitching machine was sending the balls in a little high.  The coaches did all they could to adjust it, but the boys would just have to compensate for it.  Unfortunately Brad struck out both at bats and Wyatt did his first time up.  That's where the tears began...

Wyatt perceives everyone else laughing and pointing at him when he messes up.  So when he gets out, he feels he's under scrutiny and heads to the dugout wailing.  He didn't even go in the field the first inning because he was so upset.  And by the last inning when he was up to bat again, life hadn't gotten any better for Wy.

We had 2 outs and Wyatt was up.  All of the sudden the other team was getting us out left and right.  We had no chance to score and because we hit first, we had no chance to redeem ourselves with a tied score.  Wyatt hit the ball and got out at first.  That's when the top blew off!!!

Needless to say, we didn't win.  Wyatt threw a tantrum in the field and embarrassed Jake to no end.  It was pretty ridiculous. Of course he never would have acted that way had someone else been his coach!  It was a mess and we were ready to head home in the end.

So now we carry the words of Tom Hanks in A League of their Own in our minds,

"There's no crying in baseball!"

Game 1 of Fall Tournament

Last night was the first game of the Winchester Baseball Fall Season Tournament.
Our game was at 5:30pm against the Royal Blue team.  We had played them a few times throughout the season with them winning some and us winning some.  I admit they were probably our biggest competition with one power hitter and some fairly good fielders.

The first inning the Royals got 5 runs and then we were up to bat.  Because the score board was on and they were announcing, I think it made some of our team a bit nervous.  But our boys pulled out an equal 5 runs.  The next inning was 3 up, 3 down for both teams... and then we got to the third inning.  It was a doozie.  Jake was nervous!  Heather and I (we work in the dugout with the boys) were biting our nails too.  We had a lot to make up.  Thankfully in the fourth inning we fielded 3 outs quickly.  We were last to bat.  We needed 5 runs to win the game.

We started at the top of the line up.  Brad hit clean up and we got a couple of runs in with some of our other good hitters too.  Then Wyatt was up to bat.  There was only one other player to hit after Wyatt - only 2 more chances to get another run in!!!  Wyatt busted the ball and brought our winning run in.  The game was over!

Tonight we play the winner of the 7pm game last night.  Unless our boys are off in La-La land, we should win easily against either of the teams that won.

Wish us luck!

Wyatt's Time Line

Wyatt has been reading a story about a chick.  Every day the chick changes a bit as it gets bigger.  Wyatt got the assignment to create his own timeline using pictures from every year of his life and giving detail of what he was doing in those pictures.  I apologize that the pictures are so dark, but I will copy the exact words that Wyatt wrote for each one.

"I am in a footdall caostum."
(I am in a football costume.)

"I am playe with trucs."
(I am playing with trucks.)

"I am on the roocks."
(I am on the rocks.)

"I am at cukices."
(I am at Chuck E. Cheese.)

"I am at a gofcors."
(I am at a golf course.)

"I am playe strwors."
(I am playing Star Wars.)

"I am capein alt."
(I am camping out.)

And this picture is for the future and what Wyatt sees himself doing when he's 25 years old.

"I am a plesman."
(I am a policeman.)

So there you have it.  Wyatt's life in a nutshell.  It cracks me up his spelling for things, but I love this phase of their lives when they're trying to figure out reading and writing.  Maybe one day he'll find it humorous too. :)

First Big School Project

Brad has completed his first science project.  They are studying different environments and animals that live in those environments.  Each child was to create a diorama of an animal in its habitat.  Brad chose the Sumatran Tiger.

The Sumatran Tiger is the smallest of all of the tigers and lives in the rain forest of Indonesia.  They have webbing between their toes so that they can swim better.
Did you know that all tigers live near water?  All are swimmers and enjoy being in the water.  Did you know that tigers have more than 100 stripes each?

Brad wanted to have a waterfall present for his water feature in the rain forest.  Notice the wild boar that the tiger has captured???  It has red permanent marker on its neck for blood.

We had fun making this project.  I hope all are this enjoyable - ha!

Pack Meeting

Brad had his first pack meeting this week.  It was a good time and Brad earned some great things.

Sister Poulton presenting Brad with his beads.

Brad has earned his Bobcat and is nearly done with his Wolf.  The next step is to earn more arrow points as well as some more belt loops and pins.

We'll be busy for the next few weeks.

Cousins to Visit

I love being the pit stop for Clay, Jess and the kids when they're traveling from their house to Mom and Dad's or back again.  It's always fun to have them stay with us - even if it's just for one night at a time.

Travis LOVES his cousin, Maddie.  They hit it off really well when we spent a weekend at Grammy and Grandpa's while Maddie was staying there.  So their last night together for a while was pretty hilarious.  They got a little wound up about things.  Here's Travis in his pillow case acting like a stinker.

Here is Madison in Travis' monkey costume.  Who knew a costume could contain so much fun.  She danced and sang, "Monkey, monkey, monkey!"  We were all cracking up.

And here's little Ian - who's not so little.  He's such a good baby though as he coos and spits now.  Too funny.  I wish we were going to see them over Christmas, but I guess we'll have to wait until later in the year.

Bad Dream

OK, so I had one of those helpless feelings the other night when Wyatt came in to our room saying he had a bad dream. Obviously he was shaken up because he was kinda doing the sob thing. Due to the darkness and that I'm blind without glasses or contacts, I couldn't see if there were tears, I just knew that the sounds were not of the norm.

I tried to calm him and walked him back to his room. There he got back into bed but wasn't excited about going back to sleep. It was in the light of the night light in their room that I saw he had been crying. Man! What do you say? What do you do? I said something lame about how it hardly ever happens that you have the same dream twice and that he ought to be OK to go back to sleep (it was the middle of the night and I didn't know what to do, forgive me!)

After a bit of hesitation he asked if he could watch TV until he felt better to go to sleep. After looking at the clock and seeing it was only 2am I wasn't thrilled to let him but knew if I didn't he likely wouldn't go back to bed. I told him he could watch TV, but not all night. He needed to try to sleep so he could be ready for school in the morning.

I guess he realized there is NOTHING on TV at that time of night. Jake said when he got up in the morning that Wyatt was in his bed. Obviously he went back to sleep, but I'm sure he wasn't thrilled about it.

After Jake prodded him a bit he finally told us what his dream was about. He dreamed that our house was blown up with dynamite and that we all died. OK, that makes for a nightmare! I think he's been watching a few too many of my shows with me - Law and Order, Criminal Minds, Bones, etc. Maybe Wyatt needs to lay off the adult shows and stick to Sponge Bob and stuff to make it easier for him to sleep. As for me, I need to figure out better ways to console my children when they need me. I'm definitely not the gushy type of parent, but I hope that my boys don't feel ripped off in the comfort department!!!
